It is with great sadness and love that the family of Larry Glenn Howery, 75, announces his passing on May 17, 2025. Larry was born on March 22, 1950, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He met the love of his life Waynette Sue, and this past November they celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. He was a loving father to Kelly, Sarah and Christopher, and proud papa to Allison, Avalyn, Claire and Victoria.
Larry was hard-working and dedicated. He spent 41 years working for Conrail/CSX where he worked his way up through the company, eventually retiring as Assistant Vice President/Mechanical Superintendent. He was a man of integrity, kindness, generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passions.
Larry's hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He was an avid car enthusiast, loved waterskiing, golfing and boating. He enjoyed nothing more than riding his Harley Davidson with his favorite riding companion, Sue. The Great Smokey Mountains was always a favorite travel destination. When at home, you could always find him in his workshop building furniture or tinkering with his classic cars.
His love for knowledge, especially gained through reading, was something he shared with his children, and grandchildren, leaving a mark that will never fade. He definitely had a soft spot for his grandchildren, constantly giving advice and telling jokes. He loved spending time with them and looked forward to their visits. Anyone who knew Larry knew of his loyal friendship and captivating storytelling.
He is survived by his beloved wife Waynette Sue, daughters Kelly (London Hoen), Sarah (Nick Basile) and son, Christopher Howery. Grandchildren Allison, Avalyn, Claire & Victoria. His mother, Lelia Howery, sister Marcia (Rick Cole), mother-in-law Anita Conn, best friend Bob Casey (Denise), as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly. Larry was preceded in death by his dad, Ralph Howery, and his brother Stormy Howery.
A visitation to honor Larry's life will be held at Peinert-Dunn Funeral Home, 7220 Dutch Rd. Waterville, Ohio on Wednesday, May 28th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. immediately followed by his funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery, Maumee, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be given to The Leukemia And Lymphoma Society.
