Larry Lee Lawson, 81, of Anderson, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2023, at his residence after a long, full life. He was born on October 14, 1941, in Anderson, Indiana to Moin Lawson and Betty (Blume) Lawson.


Larry graduated from high school at the Indiana Academy, then furthered his education obtaining his associate degree in radiology. He worked at Community Hospital in Anderson for 55 years in various positions including radiology as their department head. While working at Community Hospital in Anderson, Larry worked for St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood.


He was a lifetime member of the Anderson Seventh-Day Adventist Church where he and his wife had been involved serving in many areas within the church. Larry enjoyed going to the Anderson Speedway and Indianapolis Motor Speedway with his family, especially his grandchildren. When Larry wasn't working and at retirement age, he enjoyed vacationing with his family and being on the golf course.


Larry is survived by his wife Karen (Huston) Lawson of Anderson; seven children, Bryan (Tracy) Lawson of Spencer, Robert (Anna) Lawson of Hope, Lorrie (Mike) Huffman of Bloomington, Brad (Momi) Lawson of Arizona, Jeff (Shelly) Lawson of Anderson, Jennifer Welch of Anderson and Susan (Todd) Bozell of Lapel; one brother, Jim (Jennifer) Lawson of Tipton; his mother-in-law, Marilyn Huston of Anderson; and twelve grandchildren, Samantha Lawson, Hunter Lawson, Hayden Lawson, Maria Lawson, Alison (Zoul) Ballman, Joshua (Brooke) Grubb, Lika Lawson, Ryan Lawson, Madison Lawson, Brandon Welch, Noah (Hailey) Bozell, and Luke Bozell. Larry is also survived by many great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a best friend, Lawrence Johnson; and most importantly, his beloved dog, Piper.


He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Sondra Kellermeyer, and a son-in-law, James Welch III.


A Celebration of Life funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Hersberger-Bozell Funeral Home, 1010 North Main Street, Lapel, Indiana 46051 with Pastor Terry Nennich officiating. Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.


Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 9, 2023, at the funeral home.


Memorial contributions may be made to Larry Lawson Scholarship Fund for Radiology Technology Students, c/o Community Hospital Foundation, 1515 North Madison Avenue, Anderson, Indiana 46011.


The family would like to thank Dr. Reddy and the staff of Community Cancer Center for the care they provided to Larry and his family.
