It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Larry C. Lujan, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, who left us on August 13, 2025, at the age of 75. Larry was born on January 4, 1950, in Monte Vista, CO, and he spent his life surrounded by family and friends in this tight-knit community.
Larry was one of eight children born to Cornelio and Fedilina Lujan. He joins his parents and his brothers, David and Leroy, in peace. A proud Marine Corps veteran, Larry served our country and carried that pride with him throughout his life-OORAH! After dedicating 25 years to Staley's Starch Plant as a welder/foreman, he cherished his time off by gambling and going on adventures with his loving wife, Darlene.
He had a zest for life that included fishing, hunting, camping, and some serious motorcycle rides on his Harley-he loved to drive fast! Though he could be a little bullheaded at times, Larry's heart was always in the right place. His tough love, strong work ethic, and candid advice will be dearly missed by those who knew him. For the record, he was never shy about engaging in a little friendly rivalry with his Broncos fan friends; especially his wife Darlene, he was a die-hard Raiders enthusiast!
Larry is survived by his wonderful wife, Darlene of Monte Vista, and his two daughters, Cher (James) Voyles and Kimberlee (Joseph) Romo both of Colorado Springs. He was also a proud grandpa to Damian Gallegos; Brandon (Diana) Cordova, Gerald Garcia Jr; Karinzza Voyles; Zoee Romo. Great Grand-children: Amilio; Taliya; Gerald III; Jayden; and looked forward to welcoming another great-grandbaby into the world soon. He leaves behind a large family, including his brothers Henry (Donna) Lujan of Del Norte; Steve (Kathy) Lujan of Monte Vista; James (Valerie) Lujan of Monte Vista; Ryan Lujan of Monte Vista and his sister Cathleen Lujan of Colorado Springs., along with numerous cherished nieces and nephews.
To honor Larry's life, A Vigil Service with Recitation of the Rosary will be held at 7:00 pm on Thursday August 21, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Monte Vista. The family would ask that in Honor of Larry attendees wear their favorite sports teams. A Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday August 22, 2025 also at the church in Monte Vista. Interment will follow services in the San Luis Valley Cemetery. We invite everyone who knew Larry to come together to celebrate his life and the love he shared with us all.
