Larry Dwayne Maxwell of Teague, Texas (Cedar Community), passed away on June 6, 2025, in Waco, Texas, at the age of 51. Born on January 1, 1974, in Baytown, Texas, Larry was a beloved son, brother, and friend whose memory will be cherished by many.
Larry was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather L.D. Maxwell; maternal grandparents Floyd and Bea Lay; his father Eldon Maxwell; aunts Susan Christian (and husband John) and Lisa James (and husband Willie James); cousin Katerina James; nephews Colby Lay, A.J. Sanders, and Elijah Owens; and niece Angel Owens.
He is survived by his loving parents, B.J. and Tina Brotherton; his grandmother Carol Maxwell; aunts Marie Nickels and Evelyn Morgan; uncle Allen Lay and wife Carmen; siblings Pam Sanders and husband Cecil, Jammey Ducat and husband Tim, Samantha Stinson and husband Stacy, Betty Griego and husband Josh, Chrissy Brotherton, and Floyd Lay and wife Dawn. He also leaves behind 23 nieces and nephews, along with numerous cousins and extended family who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at Union Cemetery Chapel in Donie, Texas, with Pastor Josh Gafford officiating. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cannon Steger, Floyd Lay, Samuel Lay, James Schupp, Jarrod Spafford, and Josh Griego. Honorary pallbearers include Dicky Terry, Scott Holmes, and Curtis Steger.
Larry's life was a quiet testament to the strength of family and the bonds that endure across generations. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
