Larry "Mick" McKinstry, 77, of Canton, went into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, July 18th, at Home. Born in Mount Vernon, on April 2, 1948, a son of the late Herbert and Beverly (Barber) McKinstry. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brother Terry, who passed away at birth. Larry was a 1975 graduate of Kent State University, obtaining his Bachelors in Political Science. Following, he started his own business, Larry McKinstry Services, where he serviced the developmentally disabled with compassion and dedication. Larry married the love of his life, Judy (Kozar) McKinstry on December 16th, 1972. He enjoyed car rides with her, eating at different restaurants, and sitting at parks to enjoy the birds as well as the scenery. Larry was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and loved anything Kent State. When he was younger he loved to garden, lift weights at the YMCA and jog in all kinds of weather. He enjoyed planning fun activities for the family when his children were young, like going to the fair, projecting movies on the bedroom wall, making s'mores, going to soccer and baseball games, as well as sledding and building snow men. In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Kerry, Patrick, Shawn (Janelle); grandson, Connor, who he adored, and loved to play board games with; as well as other loving family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held by the family on August 30th from 12pm-3pm at Lifecare Developmental Services, 4501 Hills and Dales Rd NW Canton, OH. 44708. Use either side door.
