We mourn the loss but celebrate the life of Larry McNeeley, who passed away on February 22,2025. Born on February 1, 1946, to Robert and Hazel McNeeley, in Kerens, Texas, Larry was a beacon of support in the lives of those around him and had a loving nature that permeated his every action. He was a man who understood the value of family, cherishing and nurturing the bonds he shared with his loved ones.
Larry's life was rich and full, marked by the love he shared with his wife, Elaine McNeeley. Their bond was an epitome of his unwavering commitment and profound love of almost 58 years. He worked 40 years for TXU and took early retirement, but he never really retired. He continued to take on contract work mostly in Texas but did venture out to Ohio and the Dominican Republic to spread his knowledge of computer operating systems and his Texas drawl. When he wasn't working with computers, he kept busy piddling and tinkering in his garage or shop. He loved woodworking and keeping a beautiful yard. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church Granbury until he and Elaine moved to Brownwood and joined First Baptist Church Brownwood. He served as a deacon at both churches and was always actively involved in church service. He was also a member of the Granbury Masonic Lodge. After moving to Brownwood, he and Elaine faithfully volunteered at Good Samaritan Ministries.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Hazel McNeeley, and a daughter, Tammy McNeeley. He leaves many behind to cherish his memory: his wife, Elaine, and daughter Wendy McNeeley, brother Bobby and wife Bonnie, brother and sister-in-law Ray and Janie Stanfield, nephews Terry, Daniel, Jeffrey, and Jason and niece Regina. Honorary family members are the Freemans: Ken, Margie, Mary Jane and husband Alex, and Kendall, and the Grafts: Mike, Melanie, Nolan, Anson, and Hollie.
A memorial service will be held at FBC Brownwood at 11:00 am, Thursday, February 27, 2025. A visitation (10:00 am) and funeral service will be held in Granbury at FBC at 11:00 am Friday, February 28, 2025, followed by an internment at Holly Hills Memorial Cemetery.
His life was a gift to us all, and we cherish the moments we shared with him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Tammy McNeeley Scholarship at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center, Institutional Advancement, 3601 4th Street, Mail Stop 6238, Lubbock, TX, 79430.
