Mr. Larry Gene McRae was born on May 27, 1952 in Robeson County, North Carolina. Larry entered eternal rest at the UNC Health Southeastern Medical Center in Lumberton, North Carolina on May 18, 2025. Larry was the son of both the late Mr. Willie Carter McRae Sr. and Mrs. Janie Pearl Wortham McRae. He graduated from Rowland South Side High School and was among the top in his class. School came easy for him. After graduation Larry enrolled at the Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, North Carolina where he studied for several years.
Larry was employed at several different jobs but liked most the Trucker job where he could roam freely and be on his own. He became ill and had to retire early. He lived with his mother during that time to care for her and she cared for him. Although he was the oldest son, "WC" play the lead in the family after their father passed. Larry was happiest when he was entertaining friends, cracking jokes, making folk laugh, playing Bid Whist which is a trick game by nature, so no wonder he loved playing tricks on folk. Larry loved to fish and one could tell that by all those different types of fishing poles he had around the house. He probably had one for each species of fish as to not get tricked by the them. He was very fond of his fishing partner and fur baby "Sparky".
Larry loved the Washington Red Skins whose name recently changed to the Washington Commanders.no worries, he was with the "Skins" all the way.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Willie and Mrs. Janie Pearl and sister-in-law Ruth.
Larry, although out of sight his memory will be cherished, and he will be truly missed by his faithful and loving brother Willie C. McRae "WC" and his children Felicia Alford (Tyrone) Quentin Anderson, Ashley McRae, and Chania Anderson; also six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Larry, Mr. Larry! 'Unc' as we called him down here in Elrod. Elrod will not be the same without him but I know he couldn't wait to see his mother and all his other loved ones he lost along the way. Prayers for his family.
