Obituary for Larry Edward Meyer*
Larry Edward Meyer, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on September 18, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on March 11, 1937, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Larry was a proud alumnus of Purdue University, graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. He dedicated his career to Proctor & Gamble, where he made significant contributions as a chemical engineer. He worked on Bounce dryer sheets, soap, and Pringles potato chips.
Larry's journey was marked not only by his professional accomplishments but also by his vibrant spirit and wit. He served our nation in the U.S. Air Force during the Berlin Crisis.
Known for his intelligence, Larry was an avid bridge player, achieving the prestigious title of Life Master with his son Dave as his partner. He relished any opportunity to gather with family and friends around the card table, creating cherished memories that will linger long after his departure. As a fan of Purdue, Bengals, Reds, and UC basketball, Larry, with his wife Gloria, could be found cheering for his favorite teams, making game days a joyous occasion, especially if their team won.
After his retirement from P&G, Larry took joy in cycling along the Loveland Bike Trail, where he would ride up to 40 miles. He also babysat his grandson Matt. He was a man of many interests, but above all, he cherished his family. Larry was very involved in his children's and grandchildren's lives.
He is survived by his daughter Sandy Carter and son-in-law James Carter, his son David Meyer, and his grandchildren: Stephanie Carter, Alicia (Erin) Carter-King, Stacey (Benjamin) Quast, and Matthew Carter, as well as great-grandchildren William Quast and Adrienne Carter-King. Larry is also survived by his dear sister Carol Petering and brother Daniel Meyer.
A celebration of Larry's life will take place on September 24, 2025, with visitation at 10:00 am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Kenwood. He will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery in Miamiville, Ohio.
As we gather to honor Larry's memory, we remember his constant smile, belly laugh, love, and the indelible mark he left on all our lives. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to Alzheimer's Association (alz.org)
