Our life on earth is just a short time in the eyes of our Lord, and are filled with love, memories, and adventures. We are granted these blessings over a lifetime with family and friends, and we will forever hold them in our hearts. Larry Emil Neumann Sr., age 76, of Centerline, MI, was called home on May 16, 2023. He joins his parents, Emil and Florence Neumann and sister Maxine in our Lords Kingdom. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 44 years, Denise, and his five children, Larry (Kim), Jim, Shannon (Alicja), Angela, and Sean. He also leaves behind his 10 grandchildren, Blake, Brianna, Christopher, Ryan, Jacob, Keifer, Aaron, Zachary, Aaron, and Amelia, along with many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friends. Larry grew up in Alpena, MI, where he learned at a very young age that he simply loved to hunt the woods and fish the lakes of Northern Michigan. His friends love to tell stories of how he would spend hours in the woods, jumping from tree to tree, always seeking out the biggest buck; or how he always knew that secret spot that had the biggest deer, and best fish on Fletchers Pond, Lake St Clair, or the Detroit River. He spent many years sharing his love of hunting and fishing with his sons. As a young man, he made the big decision to serve God and his country, and joined the U.S. Army, where he served as a Private for 2 tours in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1969. Larry was always a hard worker and held a variety of positions over his lifetime, but retired from Chrysler Corporation in Warren, MI in 2016 as a Tool & Die maker. While he loved a good retirement nap, he stayed busy using his talent for wood working. He made a variety of gorgeous wares such as cedar trunks, boxes, and Adirondack chairs, which he could beautifully decorate in wood etching. Near the end of his earthly journey, he decided to share his love of fishing with other enthusiasts and worked part time for Lakeside Bait & Tackle on weekends. Larry and Denise loved to travel after retirement when they could, even going on an Alaskan cruise. They made sure that they opened their home to family and their friends for many holiday dinners, fish fry of the bluegill he caught, and he made sure to always make enough of his famous etouffee to feed an army. There was never a holiday where he wasn’t silently supervising the kitchen activities where Denise was running the show. The hole that is left in our hearts can never be filled, but we know that he lives in our Lords kingdom for eternity, where he can hunt endless forests, fish in heavenly blue streams, and be free of pain and worry. A full military funeral will be held for Larry at the Great Lakes National Cemetery located at 4200 Belford Rd Holly, MI 48442 on Wednesday May 31, 2023 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to Hope Lutheran Church where he was saved. Hope Lutheran Church 32400 Hoover Rd Warren, MI 48093 586.979.9055 https://www.hopewarren.com/
