Larry Donnell Norrid, Jr., 56, of Gilmer, Texas, was born in Odessa, Texas, on October 19, 1968, to Larry Donnell Norrid Sr. and Sue Frances Hughes Norrid and passed from this life on August 18, 2025, in Pittsburg, Texas. He was a graduate of Gunnison High School in Colorado, Odessa College with an Associate's in Fire Science, and University of Texas A&M San Antonio with his Bachelor's in Applied Arts and Sciences Cum Laude. Larry married his high school sweetheart; Michelle on August 24, 1991 at Mission Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas. He held various positions with City of Odessa Parks Department, and became a firefighter for 21 years before his retirement in 2021. At his final position, he was a Battalion Chief for the Odessa Fire Department. In the past 4 years, he taught special education at Legacy High School in Tyler, Texas. In his free time, Larry enjoyed reading, trout fishing in Colorado, camping, playing pool, teaching poker and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Michelle Norrid; father, Larry Donnell Norrid Sr.; daughters, Sierra Norrid (Timothy), and Madison Grainger; husband Cyrus; sisters, Sherrie Posey; husband AJ Posey, and Melissa Richardson; brothers, Joshua Norrid; wife April Norrid, and Kyler Norrid, mother in law Pauline Sewell, and grandchildren, Adrian, and Ember, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sue Frances Norrid; and sister, Heather Norrid, grandparents Meredith and Lila Hughes, Don and Grace Norrid, and precious aunts and uncles and extended family. Private arrangements are under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home in Gilmer, Texas. Please visit Larry's online registration book at www.mcwhorterfh.com to leave a memory for the family.
