Lawrence "Larry" Adam Palmer
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend passed away on the evening of February 18, 2026, surrounded by his loving family after suffering a stroke.
Larry was born on October 3, 1942, to William Lars and May Louise Beesley Palmer. He grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah, alongside his older brothers, Billy and Jack.
Larry was deeply patriotic and loved his country. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for nine years as an Aircraft Navigation Systems Technician. His service took him and his family across the country and around the world, where he formed friendships that became lifelong bonds.
After his military service, Larry built a career as a master machinist at Cordin Co., where he spent more than 30 years doing work he truly enjoyed.
Family was the center of Larry's life. After graduating from West High School in 1961, he married his high school sweetheart, Barrie Barrett, and together they welcomed three wonderful sons. He later welcomed five more beloved children during his 33 years of marriage to Leona Flitton. In later years, he found companionship with Susan Laughlin, with whom he shared more than 20 years.
Larry treasured every member of his large family and was always happy to help, whether remodeling a home, repairing a car, slipping money into your pocket, or simply showing up to spend time together.
Larry was known everywhere he went for his generosity, his willingness to serve, and his joyful presence. He was often the first to arrive and the last to leave when help was needed. He gave freely of his time, talents, and resources, and his quiet acts of service touched countless lives.
From a young age, Larry developed a love of cars and mechanics while working after school at his father's service station beginning at just 10 years old. That early interest grew into a lifelong passion for Jeeps. To Larry, a Jeep was never just something he drove. It was his creative outlet. He loved working on them, fixing them up, and adding his own personal touches. He also started the family tradition of attending the Easter Jeep Safari in Moab each year, where many cherished family memories were made.
As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Larry served faithfully in many callings, including scouting, elders quorum, and the bishopric. He loved his Savior, Jesus Christ, and sought to serve Him by serving others.
We take comfort in knowing of the joyful reunion with those who preceded him in death: his sons David and Kory; his parents; his brothers; and his dear friend, Danny Clift.
Larry is survived by his wife, Susan; his children Ken (Roxie) Palmer, Kirt (Georgia) Palmer, Robert (Jill) Palmer, Kaelyn Bello, Richard (Nora) Palmer, and Natalie (Daniel) Poll; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and his former wife and eternal companion, Leona Palmer.
