Larry Sipes, 80, passed away on December 29, 2025, in Rossville, Indiana. Born on February 26, 1945, in Lafayette, Indiana, Larry spent his life rooted in the Hoosier state, where he became a familiar and beloved presence to many.
A proud graduate of Rossville High School in the Class of 1963, Larry went on to build a remarkable career in retail sales that spanned more than five decades. He became a staple at the Tippecanoe Mall in Lafayette, where he worked for Lazarus, Macy’s, and Sears. His dedication to customer service and his unmistakable presence made him a recognizable figure to generations of shoppers.
Beyond his work in traditional retail, Larry had a deep passion for taking family photos. A love for antiques and collectibles. He was a regular at weekend auctions and could often be found selling treasures at local festivals. Around 2018, he established one of the largest booths at Sell It Here in Lafayette—a testament to both his entrepreneurial spirit and his love for vintage finds. He continued this work until his retirement to Milner's Healthcare in 2021.
Larry was known not only for his keen eye for antiques but also for his sharp wit. His unique sense of humor and sarcasm left an impression on everyone who crossed his path and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Margaret Sipes; and two brothers, Richard and Phil Sipes. He is remembered with love by his sister-in-law Debi Sipes; six nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A private celebration of life will be held after his cremation.
