Date of Death: January 17, 2025
Date of Birth: April 5, 1962
Larry Bruce Smith Jr passed away January 17, 2025, surrounded by his family, after a long illness.
Larry Bruce Smith was born to Fay Lewis Smith and Larry Bruce Smith Sr on April 5, 1962 at CMMC in Lewiston, Maine. He lived in Auburn with his family until they moved to Durham in 1971. He was schooled locally, ultimately earning his GED from Lewiston Adult Ed.
Larry was always a hard worker throughout his life. He worked in various capacities and was a skilled technician, Commercial truck driver and salesman for several employers.
Larry loved his family with all his heart, and was a devoted son, brother, and uncle to all his nieces and nephews. He was also Kitty Daddy to Hercules, Buddy and Oscar.
Larry met the love of his life, Patricia "Patty" Spencer in 2010. The lived together for several years and, spontaneously, married at Town Hall on October 24, 2016, a first marriage for both. They later re-married on August, 19, 2017, witnessed by family and friends.
Larry had a funny, sarcastic wit and could always make you laugh with his antics. He loved to travel and honeymooned at Acadia with his wife, Patty. He also loved to "ride the coasters," doing so as often as the opportunity presented itself. He recently traveled to Houlton with lifelong friends, Tony and Becky, to view the eclipse, which was a "once in a lifetime experience." Larry also enjoyed multiple genres of music, with "Stevie" SRV, being his favorite musician.
Larry was pre-deceased by his mother, Fay Smith. He is survived by his wife, Patty, his father, Larry Sr, sisters Karon (George) Homer, Rita (Dawson) Merrill and Penny (Paul) Baker, 6 nieces and nephews, 7 great-nieces and nephews. Larry will be dearly missed by all!
The family would like to thank the ICU staff at MidCoast Hospital in Brunswick for their skilled and sensitive care in Larry's last days.
A Celebration of Life will be held in the Spring, at a date and time to be announced.
