Larry K. Sword was born on August 11, 1957, in Houston, Texas, to Polly and Harold Sword. He lived a full and meaningful life surrounded by the love of his family and friends. On July 12, 1975, he married the love of his life- Donna at a young age, and together they built a beautiful family. Their first son, Lane Sword, was born while they were still in high school in 1977, and they later welcomed Amanda Perales, Larry K. Sword Jr., and Lance Sword.
In his earlier years, Larry owned a beach house in Surfside Beach, Texas, where he created countless memories with family and friends. The beach was one of his favorite places to relax, fish, and enjoy life by the water.
Larry was a hardworking man who dedicated his life to providing for his family as a skilled plasterer then, dedicated plumber. He took great pride in teaching his three sons various trades, passing down his knowledge, patience, and work ethic. Larry was not only a provider, but also a proud father and grandfather who never missed a moment-whether it was coaching his children's sports teams, cheering them on from the stands, or offering a word of encouragement before a big game.
He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, and he cherished every opportunity to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Larry was known for his giving heart and nurturing spirit-he always made sure everyone was fed and taken care of, and he would gladly give you the shirt off his back. A loyal fan, he loved watching Dallas Cowboys football games.
For the past ten years, Larry courageously battled colon and lung cancer. Despite the challenges, he remained strong and surrounded himself with love. On April 2, 2025, he passed away peacefully at North Cypress Hospital, with his family by his side.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Polly Sword; his in-laws, Jimmy Don, and Adelayde Haynes; and his brother, Lester Sword.
He leaves behind four children: Lane Sword and his wife Dianna; Amanda Perales and her husband Eric; Larry K. Sword Jr.; and Lance Sword and his wife Starr. He also leaves behind eleven beloved grandchildren: Shelby Jones and her husband Dillon, Chase Perales, Madyson Sword, Ethan Sword, Gabriel Perales, Reagan Sword, Alexis Perales, Margaret Sword, Alazay Sword, and Oakleigh Sword. Larry was blessed to meet and love his four great-grandchildren: Brantley Jones, Kinsley Jones, Blaine Jones, and Kash Jones.
He is also survived by his best friend and brother-in-law, Jimmy (Bubba) Haynes, and his wife Susan Haynes, with whom he shared a lifetime of memories, laughter, and deep friendship that meant the world to him.
Pallbearers honoring Larry's life will be Omar Garcia Jr., Steve Schelby, Chase Perales, Ethan Sword, Dillon Jones, Brandon Willard, McDonald JonBaptiste and Kevin Reed. Honorary Pallbearer- Gabriel Perales and Brantley Jones.
A viewing and will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM.
Larry will be remembered for his unwavering love, strong character, and the legacy he leaves behind in the hearts of all who knew him.

You have been such a great dad and grandpa. This is so hard for everyone. Your absence will be loud. That is because your presence was so loud. I´m sorry that you were in so much pain at the end. I know that you did not want to leave. I´m pretty sure that you will be close by and I know that this separation is temporary. I´m glad that you are no longer suffering. You truly did fight the good fight, and I know that you will be resting in paradise.
