It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Laura Lee Davenport, who left this world on August 18, 2025, at the age of 73, in Centerville, Georgia. Visitation will be Friday, August 22, 2025 between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM at Manchester Funeral Home & Crematory. A celebration of her life will be held in the Chapel of Manchester Funeral Home & Crematory, 786 McMinnville Hwy, Manchester, TN 37355, Friday August 22, 2025 at 2:00 PM. Burial with military honors will immediately follow at Old Blanton's Cemetery, 13-299 Devils Backbone Ln, Manchester, TN 37355 where family and friends can gather to honor her memory and the profound impact she had on all who knew her.
Born on July 5, 1952, in Michigan, Laura lived a life marked by kindness, consideration, and unwavering dedication to those she loved. Laura honorably served in the United States Air Force, where she exemplified a strong sense of duty and commitment. This dedication extended far beyond her military career, as she continued to impact her community positively upon her return to civilian life. As a Nutrition Assistant at Perdue Elementary, she nourished not only the bodies but also the spirits of countless young students with her caring demeanor and nurturing approach. Laura's role at Robins Air Force Base as a civil servant further showcased her unwavering commitment to serving her community and her country.
Outside of her professional life, Laura was known for her vibrant personality and her love for bowling. She cherished the camaraderie and joy she found while traveling with her bowling friends, creating countless memories and lasting friendships.
Laura was preceded in death by her beloved parents, her husband, Charles Thomas Davenport, and her dear brother, David WestenFelder, Sr. She is survived by her children, Amy Marie Gautney (Derek) and William "Reggie" Davenport (May), along with her loving grandchildren: Alexander Charles Gautney, Kara Elise Gautney, Laynia Lee Gautney, and James Richard Gendron. Laura is also remembered by her sister, Patty Tinermon (Chris), and her half-brother, James "Jim" Templin.
Flowers are accepted or the family kindly requests that donations be made in Laura's memory to the National Veterans Foundation, 5777 West Century Blvd., Ste. 350, Los Angeles, CA 90045, a cause that reflects her dedication to serving others. Laura Lee Davenport will be profoundly missed, but her legacy of kindness and compassion will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
