Laura McAtee Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John M. Ireland & Son Funeral Home and Chapel on May 8, 2024.
It is with great sorrow and a lifetime of fond memories that we announce the death of Ardell McAtee of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who passed away from this life on May 7, 2024, at the age of 99. She was born Laura Ardell Pyron on July 16, 1924, to William Jenning Pyron and Lela Moore, both of whom preceded her in death. After the untimely passing of both William and Lela, Ardell was lovingly raised by her grandmother, Pyron. Ardell is also preceded by her husband, Ellis LeRoy McAtee, and two sisters, Deloris Brite, and Juanita Bell O'Neal.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. Ardell is survived by her daughter, Billie Lee and her husband Roger, son Jeff McAtee and his wife Roxy; three grandchildren, Sean Lee, Kelly McAtee, and Mandy Hayes; along with two great-grandchildren, Jackson and Emma Hayes, her brother-in-law, Don Bright, and niece D'von Poulson and her husband Steve.
Laura lived her life with grace, dignity, and most of all, genuine kindness. She was exceptionally compassionate, thoughtful, and courteous, with a generous, loving heart. Professionally, she spent many years in the Finance industry as a bookkeeper. In her free time, she enjoyed cooking for her family, traveling, and listening to her favorite music, usually Conway Twitty, Marty Robbins, or the like. As a skilled and talented writer, Ardell enjoyed the creative process of writing, and even wrote a book about her family. She also loved to read and could often be found at home, curled up with a good book. More than anything, she cherished time spent with the people she loved, particularly her beloved family. As we reflect upon the life of Laura Ardell McAtee, may we hold her memory forever in our hearts, and let us always remember to, as Ardell would say, "Be kind."
