Laura Christie Rood, a beacon of joy and laughter, passed unexpectedly on September 7, 2024, at the age of 27. Born on September 29, 1996, in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, she entered the world with a sparkle that would light up the darkest of rooms.
Laura, known for her infectious smile and an unparalleled zest for life, was the loving daughter of Lea and Joe Taylor, and Jason Rood. She was the granddaughter who could do no wrong in the eyes of Cindy and Pete Headrick, Pete and Linda Taylor, as well as Gregory and Lana Rood. Her siblings, Natalie (Chris) Betts, Blake Wildfong, Alex (Noah) Taylor, Jacob (Bethany) Taylor, Joseph (Shreya) Taylor, and Kelsi-Lynn Taylor, will forever cherish the countless memories of sisterly shenanigans and the bonds that only siblings can understand. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, other family and friends.
Nieces and nephews CJ, Amelia, Hunter, and Silas will miss their fun-loving aunt who taught them the fine art of Oreo cookie consumption, while her dog Dun Dun will surely be waiting by the door of her room for some time, hoping for just one more belly rub from his favorite human.
Laura's interests were as colorful and delightful as her personality. She could often be found glued to the TV, watching Scooby-Doo mysteries unfold or singing along to the latest Disney Channel hit. An Oreo wasn't safe within a mile radius of Laura, and her music playlists were as eclectic as her circle of friends – which, by the way, was vast and varied.
To describe Laura as loving, friendly, and courageous would be an understatement. Her courage was not the loud, roaring kind but the quiet, steadfast presence that reminded us all that strength comes in many forms.
Laura's life was a masterclass in embracing joy and facing challenges with a grin. She navigated the world with a heart so big it was a wonder it fit inside her chest.
While the world may seem a little less bright without Laura's dazzling spirit, her laughter echoes in the hearts of those who knew her well. She has left behind a treasure trove of memories that will continue to bring smiles to faces and warmth to souls for years to come.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Laura's Life will be held 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at the Lapeer VFW Post #4139, where family and friends will gather for charity ride at 10:00 AM before her service. Arrangements entrusted to Jansen Family Funeral Home – Columbiaville. Memorial contributions in memory of Laura may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.
