Laura Vivian Stanton Barrie

Laura Vivian Stanton Barrie, 100 of Bay Minette, AL passed away peacefully on April 13, 2025.
Ms. Barrie, also known as, "Vivian" and affectionately, "Pie," was born on August 02, 1924, in Perdido, Alabama, the daughter of the late, Garrett Vivian Stanton and Annie Laura McGill Stanton.
She grew up during the Great Depression. At 15 years old, her father was killed leaving her mother a widow with 6 girls to raise during the start of WWII.
Ms. Barrie moved around a lot throughout her life. She graduated from high school in Bay Minette, AL in 1942 and began working for Brookley Field Army Airbase in a civil service position. She was transferred into the Supply Department, where she was in a special unit of 7 people called the AGP (Aircraft Grounded for Parts). She was chosen to go for duty to Hickam AirForce Base in Honolulu, Hawaii.
In 1944, she went under contract with the war department. When the war ended in 1945, she transferred to Pensacola. During the 1950's, she worked in sales at Charlie Wilkerson Gas Company, along with other companies in the Pensacola area. She attended Pensacola Junior College in the 1960's and worked in a sales position for Stones Super Service in Pensacola.
Ms. Barrie owned and operated the Neighborhood Display Store in Milton, FL during the late 1960's and also owned and operated The Treasure House in the 1970's in Pea Ridge, FL.
"Laura," as her nursing home community knew her as, was a resident of Crowne Health Care of North Baldwin in Bay Minette, AL for the past 5 years.
Ms. Barrie is preceded in death by her son, Clyde Stanley Boggs; her daughter, Kathryn Penninger; her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Boggs; 2 grandchildren, Jimmy Boggs and Mary Ryden; her sisters, Arvie Jernigan, Margie Stanton, and Pearl "Noonie" Little.
She leaves behind her daughter, Vicky Ryden of NC; 5 grandchildren, Bobby Clifford, Karen Boggs, Kimberly Boggs, Heather Wade, and Jason Penninger; 5 great grandchildren, Brandon Eubanks, Lauren Wade, Hannah Wade, Dylan Wade, and Sarah Hinnant; 2 sisters, Woody Williams and Iris Byrd, both of AL.
Trahan Family Funeral Home has been entrusted in handling all arrangements.
