Laurie Sue (Powledge) Wise passed away on September 4, 2025, her passing comes after a lifelong battle with juvenile diabetes-a challenge she met with strength and unwavering spirit. Born on July 3, 1960, in Pasadena, Texas, Laurie was the eldest of three children born to Louie C. Powledge and Jamie (Jernigan) Powledge. She was raised in Huntsville, where her bold personality and vibrant spirit began to shine at an early age.
She had an extraordinary bond with animals, especially her horse T-Day. Together they won numerous trophies and awards competing in rodeo events. Her love of animals didn't stop there, she rescued any animal that was in need, proving that compassion and courage ride hand in hand.
Laurie developed a love for books early on and was always an avid reader. She was always an "A" student and when she attended Brazosport College School of Nursing, she graduated and earned the highest score ever recorded at that time by the State Board of Nursing.
Outspoken, unapologetically herself, she was never one to mince words. She had no filter, and that was just one of the many things that made her unforgettable. To know her was to know someone fiercely loyal, honest to a fault, and always ready with a quick wit or a sharp comeback. She took the role of mother to many throughout her life offering love, guidance and support when needed. She was extremely proud of her two sons and their families, as well as her bonus daughter and son and their families. She found her greatest joy in being a mother and Mawmaw.
She is survived by her loving husband, Hudson Wise; her children Cody Yates, Bryan Brady (Lyndsie), William Wise (fiancé Emily) and Melissa Logan (Jeremy); her brother, Troy Powledge (Kitty); her sister, Julie Hefner (Charles); sister in law LouEllen Wise Schelenger (David) ;God Daughter in Love(Heather Harris) and a legacy of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will continue to carry her memory forward. Laurie was preceded in death by her parents, Louie and Jamie Powledge, and her beloved grandparents, Jim and Lizzie Belle Jernigan and Kirby Powledge.
In honor of her extraordinary life, the family requests that donations be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, an organization close to Laurie's heart.
Laurie lived on her own terms, and her legacy will live on in the stories, laughter, and love shared by those who knew her best.
A Memorial Service will be held, Saturday, October 4th, 2025 at 11:00 AM, at Wesley Memorial Methodist Church, 700 Hwy 30 East,
