Kalona-Laurine Marie (Miller) Beachy, age 95, passed away peacefully at her home on December 19, 2024. She was born on September 17, 1929, the daughter of Emery B. and Mary E. (Shelter) Miller. Laurine lived in the Kalona area all her life. During her childhood, she attended Evergreen School, completing eight grades. In her youth, she accepted Christ while attending revival meetings at East Union Church. She was a faithful member of Salem Mennonite Fellowship. On September 28, 1950, she married Walter Beachy. God blessed them with eight children. She is survived by her family: Marietta (James) Yoder of Kokomo, MS; daughter-in-law Alice Beachy of Kalona, IA; Leah Belle (Paul) Stutzman of Olathe, CO; Cynthia (John Mark) Miller of Kirksville, MO; Daryl (Rachel) Beachy of Kalona, IA; daughter-in-law Rhoda Beachy of Wellman, IA; Myrna (Nate) Byers of Boonville, MO; and Jolene Beachy of Kalona, IA.

Laurine was blessed with 44 grandchildren and 101 great-grandchildren. She lived a full life, working hard and energetically. She loved her gardens, flowers, and birds. She made many quilts for her children and grandchildren. Family and friends meant so much to her. She faithfully sent birthday cards to her children and grandchildren. In her later years, she was lovingly cared for by her family and caregivers.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter, in 2014; her son Wilford, husband of Alice, in February 2023; her son Richard, husband of Rhoda, in December 2023; and her great-grandson Trey Miller, age 14 months.

A special thank you to her caregivers for their kind and loving service. The family appreciates all expressions of love and support.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Monday, December 23, 2024 at the Fairview Mennonite Church, rural Kalona. Burial will be in the East Union Mennonite Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Fairview Mennonite Church rural Kalona. A general memorial fund has been established.
