LaVane "Bonnie" Loretta Sutton, age 95, of Otter Lake, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, at her home in Otter Lake, Michigan. She was born on September 11, 1929, to Carl and Vera Broughman, who instilled in her the values of love, faith, and generosity that would guide her throughout her life.
Bonnie's journey through life began in a small, nurturing family atmosphere, and she carried those family values into her own life. On October 19, 1947, she married the love of her life, Robert Sutton, in a ceremony held in Otter Lake. Together, they built a family and a life filled with joy and laughter. Bonnie was a devoted wife and mother, raising her sons-Bill (Linda), Gary (Diane), Thomas, Don (Lona), Roger (Aven), and Bradley (Angelina)-with unwavering support and affection.
Throughout her life, Bonnie was known for her loving, faith-filled, and generous spirit. She was an outstanding member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints – Otter Lake Restoration Branch, where she actively contributed her time and talents. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and shaping her relationships within the community. Bonnie's commitment to her church and her family was evident to all who knew her.
Bonnie had many hobbies that brought her joy, including shopping, watching movies, canning, and camping. She cherished the moments spent with family and friends, whether it was on a leisurely car ride or engaged in her beloved craft of Swedish weaving. Her passion for creating and nurturing extended beyond her immediate family; she delighted in the lives of her 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews leaving an enduring legacy through the love she imparted to them.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert, brothers Carl and Jerry, grandson Robert, great-granddaughter Sarah, and her daughter-in-law Pamela. She is survived by her devoted sons, numerous grandchildren, and a loving brother-in-law, Erwin (Doris) Sutton. She also leaves behind a close friend, Marilyn Davenport, who the family thanks for helping to care for Bonnie and was a cherished part of her life.
As we remember Bonnie Sutton, we honor a woman whose life was defined by her love for others, her strong faith, and her unwavering generosity. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. May her spirit continue to shine brightly in our hearts and guide us as we celebrate her remarkable life.
