Laverne McDonald passed from this life on Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the age of 90. She was born on October 1, 1932 on 12 mile prairie north of Durant, Oklahoma to Lonnie Richard and Sarah Florence (James) McDonald.
She was a longtime resident of Durant. She enjoyed traveling, reading, search-a-word puzzles, shopping and talking on the phone with her friends and family. She had a big heart and was very generous with her friends and family. Most of all she loved the Lord and spending time with those close to her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Charles McDonald; nephews Christopher Welch, Kelly McDonald, Steve Wigington and a niece Crystal Harrelson.
Survivors include her sister Christine Despain of Durant, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Donnie McDonald of Durant, Oklahoma; nephews Kenneth Wigington and wife Deborah of St. John Washington, Travis Wigington of McAlester, Oklahoma, Travis Wigington of Durant, Oklahoma, Kelly McDonald and wife Sheila of Bokchito, Oklahoma, David McDonald and wife Stacey of Durant, Oklahoma, Scotty Wigington of Durant, Oklahoma, Phillip Wigington of Durant, Oklahoma; nieces Valerie Welch and husband Danny of Durant, Oklahoma, Tina Mueller and husband John of Mead, Oklahoma, Tamara Wigington of Durant, Oklahoma as well as other nieces, nephews and extended family.
A family visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00PM, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Gordon Funeral Home.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00AM, Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Highland Cemetery in Durant, Oklahoma with Bro. Garry McNeill officiating. Chuck Welch, Chris Wigington, Scott, Brad Wigington, Kelly McDonald and David McDonald will serve as pallbearers.
A special thanks to Enhabit Home Health and special friends Kelly Luck, Dorothy McDaniel and Anna Hart for all that you have done for Laverne.
