LaVerne Westbrook

LaVerne Oneta Westbrook, a loving wife, mother, and caregiver, passed away peacefully at her home in Bells, Texas on April 13, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was 83 years old.
Born on March 23, 1941, in Pottsboro, Texas, LaVerne was the daughter of Alvin Allen Meek and Laree Augusta Higgins Meek. LaVerne's life was filled with love for her family. Her high school sweetheart, John Mac Westbrook, became her husband on July 25, 1959, in Denison, Texas, and together they shared 65 beautiful years. LaVerne found her greatest joy in caring for children, and each child she nurtured held a special place in her heart.
LaVerne is survived by her husband, Mac Westbrook of Bells; daughter, Tonia Malone; son, John Westbrook and his wife Leoniecyn; seven grandchildren (Gemma Purser and Husband Johnny Purser of Bells, Ariel Dawson and Husband James Dawson of Pottsboro, Zach Westbrook and Wife Inessa Westbrook of Frisco, Summer Westbrook and Husband Don Hawkins of Dallas and Clayton Westbrook and Wife Kelsi Westbrook of Washington, Louie Villa and Trixie Villa of Mena, Arkansas); 17 great-grandchildren (Mackenzie, Remington, Gauge, Rylee, PJ, Zoey, Kayden, Sadie, Layla, Emma, Zach, Alix, Lina, Lailah, Zaylyn, Chad, and Branson); and her sisters, Alva Bostick and Wanda Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, William Westbrook; and sister, Betty Layman.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Hebron Baptist Church Friendship Center in Savoy, Texas.
