Lavet Mychell Diggs
August 12, 1965 – September 25, 2025
Lavet Mychell Diggs was born on August 12, 1965, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Melvin Dean Diggs and Barbara Jean (Jackson) Diggs. She was the youngest of two daughters and shared a special bond with her sister, Shari Louise Diggs, and her nephew, Marciano.
From a young age, Lavet had a love for music and performance. She expressed her talent as a proud member of the Singing Angels and also performed at Cleveland's historic Karamu House. She went on to graduate from South High School in Cleveland.
Lavet always kept herself busy with work and spent many years as a familiar and friendly face at B & M BBQ. One of the most meaningful roles in her life was being the caretaker for her mother, Barbara. She did her best to care for her until her mother's passing, fulfilling the obligation set forth in the scriptures: "But if any widow has children or grandchildren, let these learn first to practice godly devotion in their own household and to repay their parents and grandparents what is due them, for this is acceptable in God's sight." - 1 Timothy 5:4.
To know Lavet was to know her passions-her lifelong love of Prince, her admiration for Tupac, and her joy in the timeless magic of The Wizard of Oz. She loved good food, good music, and being surrounded by friends. She was well loved by many, and her laughter and vibrant personality left an impression wherever she went.
Lavet passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, with family and friends by her side, knowing she was loved.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Barbara, and her sister, Shari. She leaves behind extended family and countless friends with fond memories of their time with her.
