Lavon Kehoe Hehr Novello, age 87, of Erie, PA passed away on August 7, 2025, in Kirkland, WA. She was born in Tillamook, OR on May 7, 1938, a daughter of the late Thomas and Grace Hudson Kehoe.
Lavon was a graduate of Springfield High School in Oregon in 1956. She worked for a telephone company in Oregon, Washington, and California from 1956-1963. She was the credit and collection manager for eight Ben Bridge Jewelers in Seattle, WA and the office administrator for Hughes Industrial of Erie.
Lavon was a Christan who loved the Lord. Her mornings were spent drinking her tea and reading her Bible.
Lavon enjoyed being homeroom mother chairman for her three children. She served on the mayor’s council and founded a drug abuse council to educate parents in Lisle, IL. She volunteered for the Erie County Hot Line for several years and was the vice president of the information and referral division of the United Way of Erie County. Lavon loved traveling with her husband, reading, baking and cooking. She was a member of the second Wednesday Morning Book Club in Erie and instilled the love of reading in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Lavon moved back to Washington to be with her children after the passing of her husband, Sam Novello in 2020. She spent time with her children, grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She continued to bake and cook, while teaching her granddaughter to bake her favorite recipes. She had fun learning to text and enjoyed texting with her family.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Sam Novello of Erie, a sister Virigina D. Baysinger of Seattle, WA, a brother Thomas H. Kehoe of Portland, OR, a son in law, Keith Kindler of Bonney Lake, WA, brother-in-law James Novello, sister-in-law Dr. Dorthy Novello of Erie, brother-in-law Richard Lynch of Erie, brother-in-law Norman Novello and sister-in-law Mary Novello of Henderson, NV.
Lavon is survived by her daughters Grace Ann Bahandari and her husband Ardeshir Bahandari and Ginnie Lee Kindler, of Seattle, WA; a son Durant M. Hehr Jr and wife Laura Hehr of Tacoma, WA; stepdaughter Deborah Lynn Vroman and her husband Kirk of Erie, PA; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren, two nieces, two nephews and eight grand fur babies.
A private service and burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Barton Family Funeral Service in Kirkland, WA and Burton Quinn Scott Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc. Downtown, 602 West 10th St. Erie.
