Lawrence Elwood Cissna, owner and operator of Industrial Automotive Services for over 30 years, was born December 29, 1942 in Oklahoma City, OK to Lawrence E. and Josephine (McClain) Cissna. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He married Diane Kramr. He is survived by:
Wife Diane Cissna of Cameron
Children Larry Dean (and Chris) Cissna of Sweeny, and Donna Cissna (and Jimbo) Lewis of Fairfield, Kenneth Wayne (and Paula) Cissna of Fairfield
Step-children Corey Matthew (and Jo) James, of Cornwall, NY, Chad Andrew James of Needville, TX, Christopher Drew (and Christine) Murray of Nashville, TN, Meredith Ann (and Matt) Cannon of Dallas
Brother Kenneth Ray Cissna of Bowie
Sister Charlotte Cissna (and David) Stark of Lake Jackson
17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren
Lawrence, aka Du-Wat, known as Uncle Bugs by his nieces and nephews, and Pop and Grandpa by his grandchildren, was a strong warrior in the Cissna Family. He has fought for his country, his family, and his life on many occasions. He is a prime example of how you can overcome difficult situations and still lead those around you. He was a pillar in every community in which he lived and has left an honorable legacy.
Larry was a man of strong words, conviction, and knowledge; even if you didn't agree with him, he made you think twice. He could change the atmosphere of a room as soon as he walked in with his humor, and had a personality you could never forget. Larry didn't have much of a filter when talking with folks and let's face it, sometimes people without filters are downright funny.
He had the ability to build a vehicle from scratch and when that wasn't enough, he built and modified his planes and took to the sky and would leave his mark in the sky with his designed smoke signature.
Retirement came, but idleness was not in his vocabulary, and the farm was created, and back to the love of rebuilding his cars he went. He was a treasure hunter who loved looking for relics, not only in the ground but at flea markets and estate sales as well.
Larry was fearless, a man of his word, and always had a song in his heart.
Memorials may be made to the American Legion, Post 0266, P. O. Box 110, Franklin, TX 77856.
