Mr. Lawrence Andre Crayton Sr.

Mr. Lawrence Andre Crayton, 40, of Peoria, IL, passed away at 2:46 am on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center.
Lawrence was born on January 15, 1984 in Peoria, IL to Ella (Crayton) Hardges and Curtis Griffin, Jr.
Lawrence worked at the Embassy Suites as a chef. He was an amazing chef and absolutely loved cooking. Lawrence attended White Middle School where he ran track & field and attended Woodruff High School. He loved fishing with his family and restoring and racing his RC cars. Lawrence also loved Rap music and played it loudly for all to hear, especially when he pulled up at someone's house. He loved to watch different types of movies. He was a loving son, father, brother and uncle.
Lawrence leaves to cherish his most precious memory, his parents, Ella Hardges and Curtis Griffin both of Peoria, IL; two sons, Lawrence Crayton, Jr. of Cedar Rapids, IA and Nathan Crayton of Bonne Terre, MO; two daughters, Desiree Crayton of Cedar Rapids, IA and Faith Crayton of Bonne Terre, MO; two brothers, Lamar (Katrina Mosley) Crayton of Peoria, IL and Dexter Griffin of Champaign, IL; six sisters, Louise Crayton of Rockford, IL, Laverne Crayton, Luella Crayton, Lace Crayton, LaShauna Gordon and Demetra Gaines all of Peoria, IL; special friend, Danyelle Riley of Peoria, IL; step children he raised, William Morefield of Bonne Terre, MO, Dustin Riley, Chloe Riley and Lance Riley all of Peoria, IL; special nephews, Eugene Crayton, Marvin "Teddy" Payton and Stefan Crayton and a host of other nephews, nieces, other family and friends who loved him. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Clea and Louise Crayton and paternal grandparents, Curtis, Sr. and Lucindy Griffin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Sovereign Grace M.B. Church, with a visitation one-hour prior beginning at 10 am. Pastor Joey Watt of El Vista Baptist Church will officiate. Lawrence will be laid to rest at Historic Springdale Cemetery.
