Rock Hill, SC - Mr. Lawrence Howard George, 93, died Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at his home.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm Monday, May 12, 2025, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Catawba Ward. The funeral service will be at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Rock Hill, SC, Mr. George was a son of the late Marvin George and Evelyn Brown George. He worked for the State of South Carolina and was a member of the Rock Hill Ferry that ran on Highway 5 and when the Ferry stopped running he became a member of the Highway Maintenance Department. He was the oldest living male member of the Catawba Nation. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved attending services. He will be remembered as a man who loved to hunt and fish.
Surviving are two sons, Neal George and Kelly George (Cassondra); two daughters, Rusty George (Ronnie Gibson), and Peggy Thomas; a brother, Phillip George (Angel); three sisters, Faye Greiner, JoAnn Bauer and Susan George; 15 grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son,Thomas George, by two daughters, Flonnie George Brazil and Rita Thrash, ; and three brothers, Charlie George, John George and Wayne George.
