Lawrence Robert Harden, a dedicated family man, pioneering businessman, and beloved friend, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 4, 2025, at the age of 86. He leaves a rich legacy of love, commitment, and professionalism that will be cherished by all who knew him. He was proceeded in his death by his Father Ernest Harden Sr., his mother Rose Harden, his brothers Ernest Harden, Ronald Harden, and his sisters Linda Harden, and Sheila Harden. Born on February 9, 1939, Lawrence dedicated his life to his family, his community, and a profession he helped shape in Northern Kentucky. Lawrence's greatest joy and commitment was his family. He was the devoted husband of Betty Harden for 61 wonderful years until her passing in September 2020. Their enduring bond was a testament to a true partnership. He was a loving father, and a cherished figure to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. Lawrence was deeply loved and respected by all who knew him for his reliability, kindness, and strong character. For nearly 60 years, Lawrence was a highly respected Licensed Optician who not only practiced his trade but also helped pave the way for many other opticians in the Northern Kentucky area. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish a very successful business, Harden's Eyewear, which he proudly owned and operated for 37 years, serving his community with expertise and care. His dedication to his work left an indelible mark on the region's optical industry. Growing up, Lawrence, or "Larry" as he was known by many, was a passionate sportsman. In high school, he excelled in Football, Basketball, Track, and Pole Vaulting. His love for sports continued into his early adulthood, where he played softball until the age of 50. He also gave back to the community by coaching girls softball, sharing his enthusiasm and skill with the next generation of athletes. Lawrence was also a proud member of the Alexandria Masonic Lodge No. 152 F. A. & M, where he valued the bonds of brotherhood and service. Lawrence is survived by his brother Warren (& Randy) Harden, his son Michael (& Angie) Harden, daughter Lynn Hurd, grandchildren Christopher Harden, Cody Hurd, Sydney (& Jason) Boh, great grandchildren Carmen Harden, Jordan Wallace, Gracie Harden, Arianna Harden, Camilla Hurd, Harper Hurd, Delilah Boh, Carter Caldwell, Luke Boh, Griffin Boh and great-great granddaughter Zoey. Visitation will be held at the Alexandria Funeral Home on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Lawrence Robert Harden's legacy of hard work, family devotion, and community service will be deeply missed and forever cherished by his family and friends."
