Robert Jennings Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Alexandria Funeral Home on Oct. 6, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Robert "Bob" Jennings, 79, of Alexandria, KY, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025. Born on February 9, 1946, in Covington, KY, he was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather whose life was defined by service, integrity, and quiet strength.

Bob was the beloved husband of Pam Jennings (née Wilson), and a cherished father to Susan Wilcox (née Jennings) and David Jennings. He was also a proud grandfather to Roger, Kendall, and Evan Wilcox.

After graduating from the University of Kentucky - where he proudly served as lead snare drummer in the UK marching band - Bob joined the U.S. Air Force and served during the Vietnam War. Following his service, he returned to UK to earn his law degree and went on to spend over 40 years practicing law. His legal career was marked by generosity and a deep sense of justice; he was widely respected for his pro bono work, his help with international adoptions, and his service to the community as a county commissioner and city attorney.

Bob had a deep love for his community. He served on the board of the Campbell County Public Library, devoted countless volunteer hours to Plum Creek Christian Church, and was always ready to lend a hand or a kind word to those in need. Despite a full and busy life, he never let responsibilities overshadow what mattered most to him: his family.

Though Bob never sought the spotlight, his steady presence and generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him. He was a man of humility, wisdom, humor, and quiet devotion - values he passed down to his children and grandchildren.

In his free time, Bob enjoyed sailing, traveling, listening to music (especially James Taylor), and passionately following sports - even when it meant enduring heartbreak from the Bengals, Reds, and especially UK football. His love for UK basketball became a cherished bond with his children, a tradition that continues to carry meaning and memory.

Bob is survived by his wife of many years, Pam; daughter Susan Wilcox and her husband Roger; son David Jennings; sister Barbara Smith (née Jennings); brother Tom Jennings; and grandchildren Kendall, Roger, and Evan Wilcox along with many nieces and nephews. He is also remembered fondly by many extended family members and friends whose lives he touched.

A visitation will be held at Plum Creek Christian Church on Thursday, October 9, beginning at 11:00 AM, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Campbell County Public Library, a place Bob held close to his heart.

While we mourn the loss of a wonderful man, we take comfort in knowing his legacy lives on - in the lessons he taught, the love he gave so freely, and the memories we will carry with us always.
