MENDON - Lawrence W. Leclaire passed away peacefully at home on June 5, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on the last day of 1946 in Milford, Larry grew into a man known for his warm-hearted jokes and friendly demeanor, touching the lives of many with his genuine kindness and infectious laughter.
He was the loving son of the late Alfred and Ada (Bracci) Leclaire.
Larry proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War, showcasing the bravery and dedication that would become a hallmark of his character throughout his life. After his military service, he embarked on a career that spanned more than three decades in the production department of the Milford Daily News, where his work ethic and personable nature made him a cherished colleague. Later, he brought his talents to D & M Auto Parts in Milford.
He was a devoted father to Nicole M. Pitts (Stephen) of Milford, Tracey L. Barnes, (Christopher) of Douglas, Jessica E. Leclaire-Masterson (John) of Sutton. He was the brother of Richard Leclaire of Hopedale, Mark Leclaire of Orlando, Florida, Sandra Antico of Hopedale. His love and legacy continue through his ten grandchildren and the many nieces and nephews and his former wife, Shelly A. Colaianni.
An avid fisherman, Larry cherished the moments spent fishing with his daughter Jessica, where the tranquility of nature met the bond of father and daughter. His hands were not only skilled in the art of angling but also in the craft of woodworking, where he created beautiful pieces that reflected his attention to detail and passion for creating.
Larry's zest for life was evident in his love for making people laugh and his ability to befriend everyone he met. His commitment to fitness was apparent to those who knew him at the former Body Shop in Milford, where he enjoyed weightlifting and staying in shape. The serene beauty of Mayflower Beach on the Cape was one of his favorite places, a testament to his appreciation for the simple pleasures in life.
Above all, Larry was a doting grandfather, always present at his grandchildren's activities, cheering them on, and sharing in their accomplishments. His love for his family was immeasurable, and he was a source of strength, humor, and warmth for all of them.
Funny and friendly, Larry's spirit and laughter will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. His memory will be cherished, and the stories of his kindness, camaraderie, and the joy he brought to the world will be recounted for generations. Larry W. Leclaire lived a life full of love, laughter, and lasting impressions.
