Lawrence “Larry” Montoya, 82, of Brighton, Colorado, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2025.
Born in Brighton to Guadalupe and Juanita Montoya, Larry learned early in life that hard work and education was the key to bettering your life. He joined the Air Force at 18 years of age to serve his country for 6 years and to be able to attend college.
On March 24, 1973, Larry married the love of his life, Mary Lou Garcia. Together, they built a home full of warmth, love, and laughter. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Larry is survived by his wife Maria; their children Elena, Eloi, and Daniel; his cherished grandchildren Eliana, Abigail, Samantha, and Ricardo; and his beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Carl, Mary, Eloi, Leopoldo, Patricio, and Christina.
Larry dedicated his career to helping others as a vocational case manager with CorVel. Outside of work, he embraced life fully. He enjoyed reading, fitness, and playing racquetball, and he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. A man of both strength and gentleness, Larry had a sweet tooth for banana splits and Boston cream pie, and a deep appreciation for poetry. His family and friends will remember him as kind, intelligent, and compassionate—a man whose presence made the world better.
