Lawrence "Shorty" Ritter, Sr., a man known for his quick wit, boundless passion, and a big heart, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 14, 2025, in Erlanger, KY. Born on March 29, 1949, in Cincinnati, OH, Shorty's life was a tapestry of devotion to his family, his work, and the simple pleasures that make life rich. Shorty's journey began as a proud graduate of Ludlow High School, where he laid the foundations for a lifetime of friendships and a work ethic that would become his hallmark. After graduation, he ventured into the world of logistics, carving out a respected career as a freight broker. His professional life was characterized by the same integrity and dedication that he brought to every aspect of his life. Beyond his professional achievements, Shorty was a man of many interests. His love for cars was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his appreciation for craftsmanship and his joy in the freedom of the open road. He was also an avid football fan, a testament to his competitive spirit and love for the game. His regular presence at Frisch's was a testament to his appreciation for good company and comfort food, where he was as much a fixture as the booths and counters. Shorty's humor, passion, and thoughtfulness were the threads that wove through his interactions with others, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of his company. His laughter was contagious, his counsel sought after, and his presence a source of comfort. He is survived by a loving family that spans generations. His legacy is carried on by his daughters, Pam Ritter and Angie Yancey; his sons, Larry Ritter, Jr. (Jackie Frost), Tony Ritter (Rachel), and Dustin Ritter (Kristin Kendall); 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Shorty's siblings, sister Connie Dalton (Jerry), brothers Butch Ritter and John Disselkamp, and stepsisters Katie Parrott (Jim) and Charlene Bonnick, will remember their brother with fondness and pride. His numerous nieces and nephews will also hold dear the memories of their fun-loving uncle.Shorty's life was a testament to the power of laughter, the strength of passion, and the depth of thoughtfulness. His passing leaves behind a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his spirit lives on in the stories they will continue to share and the memories they will forever cherish. He has left the world a brighter place, and for that, his family and friends are eternally grateful. As we bid farewell to Lawrence "Shorty" Ritter, Sr., we celebrate a life well-lived-a life filled with joy, commitment, and an undeniable zest that will be remembered by all who knew him. Shorty's journey through life may have come to a gentle end, but the mark he left on the world is indelible. His story does not end here; it lives on in the laughter of his grandchildren, the accomplishments of his children, and the better world he helped to create through his example of love and kindness. Rest in peace, Shorty; your legacy endures.
