Lawrence Allen Rivenbark

Lawrence Allen (Larry) Rivenbark, age 79, peacefully departed this life and entered his eternal home on August 7, 2024, after a long battle with cancer. Larry finally won the fight while at home with his wife Margaret and his sister Pat by his side.
Larry was preceded in death by his father Edwin Rivenbark, his mother Myrtle Hayes Jones and sister Gloria Everton.
Larry leaves behind Margaret, his wife of 55 years, who was the light of his life and his loving caregiver up to the day of his passing. Larry also leaves behind two sisters, Joy (Don) Fowler and Pat (Mallory) Jernigan and one brother Charles (Connie) Rivenbark along with his brothers-in-law Sam (Debbie)Kistner and Roger Everton, his sister-in-law Pat Kistner as well as lots of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. Along with his family members, Larry will be missed by his lifelong best friend David (Judy) Pauley, his dog Sunny and his wonderful neighbors.
Having no children of their own, Larry and Margaret always made their home a gathering place for family and friends and treated their nieces and nephews as their own children. Larry was generous in nature, always willing to lend a helping hand to family and neighbors and to share his blessings with others.
He will be missed in many ways, one of which was the unique sense of humor that he demonstrated even in his final days. While he was very ill, Larry still had a way of making everyone around him laugh. Larry was born on June 15, 1945, in Wildwood, Florida, the youngest of five siblings. He lived in Florida all his youth, attending Lake Lindsey Elementary School and Hernando High School. Larry Joined the Army on 10-26-65 and served until being honorably discharged on October 18, 1967. During his time of active duty in Vietnam, Larry served as a Military Policeman. After many years in the work force, Larry retired to his log cabin in the woods known to all as "R Woods" where he hosted many fun memory-making holiday gatherings where all were welcome. One of Larry's favorite things to do was to travel. He was able to visit all 50 states, Hawaii while in the military and the other 49 with his wife Margaret. He loved Alaska so much he made a second rip with his sister Pat. He traveled mostly with his wife Margaret and often with their friends David and Judy Pauley.
A celebration of life will be held at Brewer Funeral Home, Brooksville, Florida on August 22, 2024. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to11:00 A.M. and the memorial service from 11:00 A.M to 12:00 P.M. After the service there will be a time of food and fellowship from 12:00 P. M. to 1:00 P. M. The interment of ashes will take place at 2:00 P.M. at the Florida National Cemetery,
Bushnell, Florida where an Honor Guard will commemorate Larry's military service.
