Lawrence Paul "Larry" Ryan

Lawrence "Larry" Paul Ryan, age 89, of Secane, Pennsylvania, a devoted Catholic and beloved
husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away peacefully after a long life of faith
and devotion on September 10, 2025.
Born on July 18, 1936 in Philadelphia, Larry was the son of Frank and Helen (nee Hayden) Ryan. He
grew up in Havertown and graduated Philadelphia's West Catholic High School in the class of 1954.
Larry married Joyce Anne (née Wood) on June 27, 1964, and together they shared 61 years of love and
partnership. He is survived by his beloved wife, his brother Frank, his daughter Loraine Potts
(Lee), and his son Joseph Ryan. He is also survived by five grandchildren Elizabeth
Ryan-Sills (Matt), Abigail Potts (Kyle Press), Nicholas Sycamore (Samantha), Alexander Ryan and
Kathryn Potts, three great-grandchildren, Nathan Ryan, Emma Ryan-Sills and Zoey Ryan and many
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Helen Ryan and his brother James Ryan.
He dedicated his career to offloading tankers at Hess Oil refinery for 35 years before his
retirement in 1994. A man of deep faith, he was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic
Church.
Larry was a dedicated athlete over many years participating in running, biking, and tennis. He and
Joyce were accomplished Irish dancers regularly taking part in many gatherings with Rosemary
Timoney Irish Dancers. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels for years.
Larry served his country with honor in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1965.
Friends and family will be received for a visitation at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in
Secane, Pennsylvania on Tuesday, September 16th at 10:00 a.m. A mass will be celebrated there at
11:00 a.m., with interment following at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
