It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Dr. Lawrence Shell, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26th, 2025 at the age of 85.
Dr. Shell was a man of quiet strength and immense warmth. Known for his caring and kind nature, he was the calm in any storm - someone who truly listened, understood, and made everyone around him feel valued. He lived his life with integrity, intelligence, and an unwavering dedication to his family, his patients, and his community.
For decades, Dr. Shell served the Columbus, Ohio, community as a trusted and compassionate dentist. He didn't just treat patients - he cared deeply for them, always taking the time to make each person feel seen, heard, and respected. His impact on generations of patients and families extended far beyond his practice.
Outside the office, Dr. Shell had a true passion for food - both enjoying it and sharing it with others. He got this passion from his father Max, and he has passed that onto his family. He was happiest behind the grill, preparing meals for the people he loved. His famous Poppy's grilled salmon became a staple at family gatherings, and he proudly wore the title of "Grill Master." These moments - full of laughter, good food, and togetherness - were where his heart truly shined.
Dr. Shell is survived by his beloved wife, Susan; his children, Richard and Jean, Andi and David, and David and Jeannette; his adored grandchildren, Sarah, Eli, Gabrielle, Merin, Max, and Felix; his brother, Steve and wife Joan; his sister, Marilyn and her husband Jonny; and Susan's sisters, Joan and her husband Richard, and Barbara.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, May 29, 2025 at New Agudas Achim Cemetery, 2565 Performance Way. Shiva will be observed at the home of Richard and Jean on Thursday from 6pm - 9pm.
Those wishing to honor Dr. Shell's memory are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice or to an organization meaningful to him.

To Susan, Richard, Andi , David & your beautiful families, we send heartfelt & loving condolences.
Our memories go way back to Dental School, babies (Larry was our Jon´s godfather), trips, fads, fun...you name it. But now it´s goodbye & we share your sadness & grief & love.

One of my favorite memories of Larry is when I met him at Northstar for a client meeting. When I sat down, he had a purple veggie burger delivered to me and took a picture of my face as soon as I saw it... I had never seen him laugh so hard. Then he had a pepperoni pizza delivered.

Words cannot express how much influence Dr Shell had on my life and career. He was an amazing man and he will be missed tremendously
