Lawrence Stroik, 81, of Ringle, passed away on Monday, August 12, 2024, with his family by his side. He was born on April 30, 1943, to the late Stanley and Evelyn (Grzywacz) Stroik. On May 31, 1969, he married the love of his life, for 55 years, Janice (Jan) Wincentsen at St. Agnes Catholic church in Weston.
Larry graduated from D.C. Everest in 1962. He honorably served in the Airforce from 1962-1966. He spent two years stationed at Kichelot AFB in MI. as an aircraft refueler. He then spent two years in Germany, stationed at Bitburg AFB. While in Germany, he was a wrestler for the German Sports Conference, traveling throughout Europe.
After the service, he worked at Kraft Foods for 11 years. While at Kraft, he met his wife Jan and fell in love. In 1977, he decided to go into trucking and worked at various trucking firms, ending with 25 years at ABF Freight until he retired in 2005.
Larry was the kind of man who liked to keep busy, that meant lots of gardening, fishing, and tinkering around the house. He also had a passion for building and designing. He lovingly crafted the family home, where he and Jan raised their 3 children. He cherished his family, especially his grandchildren, Angel and Teagan. He would do whatever they asked, including putting mixing bowls on his head or chasing each other around with Nerf guns. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. His legacy of dedication, hard work, and love for family will forever be remembered.
Larry is survived by his wife, Jan; sons, Mike (Tracey), Jeff (Patti), and Brad (Sarah); his beloved grandchildren, Angel Stroik and Teagan Stroik; and many granddogs. He is also survived by his step-grandchild, Dakota Tesch; and step-great-grandchild, Aubreigh Tesch. He is survived by three brothers, Richard, Ron (Jenny) and Gary (Julie); and three sisters, Cheryl (Tony) Raczek, Karen Tekippe, and Janel (Dick) Dunaj. Mother-in-law: Violet Wincentsen.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William and Daniel; sisters-in-law, Carol Stroik and Marcia Hoffman; and good friend, Tom Pflieger.
Larry was the best husband, father, and grandfather.
The family would like to also extend a special thank you to his family doctor, Dr. Michael Umland, the staff at Marshfield Medical Center, and the hospice staff at Compassus Hospice Care.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, August 22nd, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Agnes Parish in Weston, WI., with visitation from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Reverend Jerome Patric Maria Frances will conduct services. There will be a private burial on another date.
