Wiley Ford-Lawrence Andrew "Larry" Wolfe, Sr., 80, of Wiley Ford, WV passed away on February 4, 2024 at Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA.
Born in Wiley Ford, WV, he was the son of the late Joseph and Elma (Zimmerman) Wolfe. In addition his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Andrew T. Wolfe; brothers, Paul Wolfe and wife Eleanor and Frank Wolfe and wives Mary and Janelle; sisters, Loretta Houdersheldt Lantz and husbands James and Harry, and Helen Walker Newman and husbands Harold and William; father and mother-in-law, Eston "Press" and Rosezella (Ralston) Presnell; brothers-in-law, Edgar Kirk, Jerry Sears and Les Worthington.
Larry was a graduate of LaSalle High School class of 1961. Larry was a hard worker who started delivering newspapers at eight years old. Following high school, he was employed by Cosgrove's Motor Cycle Shop. Larry was employed by his father-in-law at Press' Auto Mart. Later he was employed by CSXT Transportation Company. After retiring from the railroad, Larry assisted his wife of almost 60 years, Judith (Presnell) Wolfe, in the operation of Press' Auto Mart, Press' Market, and Press' Snack Bar.
Larry was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Ridgeley, WV where he participated in the Church's Guild, Potomac Valley Outdoor Club and the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees. Larry's greatest pleasure was spending time with his family. He enjoyed participating in family activities, and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by his children, Dr. Florence "Flo" Wolfe Sharp and husband Rod, Lawrence A. Wolfe, Jr. and Sammi Anderson, Dr. Janet A. Wolfe-Medovic and husband Marty, and Kenneth E. Wolfe and wife Carol; grandchildren, Erin Tribut, Ashley Wolfe Drake and husband Shane, Peyton Wolfe and Greg Mulrey, Zachary Medovic, Amanda Medovic and Noah Hilton, Paige Sharp, Cameron Appleyard, Colton Appleyard, Morgan Sharp and William Medovic; brothers, Joseph R. Wolfe and wife Dorothy, Charles Wolfe and wife Ann, Fredrick "Fred" Wolfe and wife Saralee; sisters, Anna Kirk, Joan Sears and Rosalie Worthington; brothers-in-law, Eston Presnell and wife Mary and Jonathan Presnell and wife Janet. Larry is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, and many loyal customers.
Friends will be received at Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Christian Wake service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Ridgeley, WV.
Burial will take place privately at Sunset Memorial Park.
In lieu of sending flowers, the family has requested those who would like to honor Larry to make contributions to St. Anthony's Catholic Church or Catholic Charities of the Dioceses of West Virginia.
