Lee James Bowman, 81, of Powell, Ohio, passed away March 30,2025. He was born February 15, 1944, in Massillon, Ohio to the late Audrienne and Gordon Bowman.

Lee enjoyed going on fishing trips to Canada, watching the Cleveland Guardians, attending concerts, maple cream sticks, and teaching. He loved his family and his career as a band director for Canton Local Schools for 34 years. Lee led through example and lived with purpose, drive, and dedication. He instilled these same values on family, students, and friends. Lee’s ability to connect with people continued throughout his life, always reminding those close to him the importance of lifting people up and acknowledging their good work. Through his love of music and leadership abilities, he created a legacy in the hearts of countless lives.

In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Mary Lou Bowman, and brother, Gene Bowman.

Lee is survived by his daughter, Carrie Herrick (Chris), son Mark Bowman (Amy), and son Lee Bowman (Lindsay), and six grandchildren: Cole, Hailey, Maddie, Kate, Payton, and Jaxson.

A private graveside service will be held at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens.
