Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother went to be with his Lord on Friday, November 7, 2025. Age 88 years. Leo Gary Temple was born on October 22, 1937, in Saginaw, to the late Leo and Viola (Johnson) Temple.
Leo served his country by enlisting in the U.S.M.C. on October 29, 1956, where he attained the designation of Expert Rifleman. He was honorably discharged on October 28, 1958. "Semper Fi."
Following his military service, his career included working for 25 years at Malleable Iron and 10 years at Grey Iron Foundry as an experimental molder, retiring in 1994.
Leo married Janet (Jan Fritzler) Sumera on June 12, 1987, in Saginaw. Following his retirement, they moved up to AuGres in 1995, where he enjoyed bird watching, woodworking, wine making, golfing, bowling, an avid perch fisherman, a card shark, and a competitive Horseshoe player. He loved life.
Surviving besides his wife, Jan, are children and spouses, Jim (Amy) Temple; Crystal (David) Rankin; Shirley (Dan) Schaller; Tina (Tom) Kuron, Amy (Tony) Dzikowicz; grandchildren, Amber (Rob), Morgan (Brendan), Adam (fiancé Caitlin), Brooke (Jordan), Savannah, Chesney, Casey, Abigail, Kate, Sophia, and Nicole; great-grandchildren, Bella, Carmen, Shellby, Quattro, Jack, and one on the way; sister, Sandra Lee Temple; sister-in-law, Diane (Karl) Brandt, also many other loving family members and dear friends. Leo was predeceased by his parents, Leo and Viola Temple; grandparents, Henry and Mary Temple, and Nathaniel and Gertrude Johnson; his brother, David N. Temple; and brother-in-law, Gale Gordon (Judy) Fritzler.
Leo, along with his wife, Janet, were very proud of their heritage, having had grandparents that migrated to America, and were the Germans from Russia.
The family of Leo would like to thank the staff at Compassus MediLodge of Tawas City, and the VA. Special thanks to Ricci, Megan, Dawn, Heather and Jamie. The children of Leo would like to thank his best friend, partner in crime, and soulmate, Jan, for her never-ending love and care of our father.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or American Legion Post #439, Saginaw.
