Leo Truss Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by S.M. Goodson Funeral Homes and Crematory - Talladega on Dec. 10, 2025.
Mr. Leo Bernard Truss was born on January 9, 1960 to Mrs. Gladys Beavers Truss and Mr. Lee Curtis Truss in Talladega, Alabama.

At an early age, Leo confessed Christ and joined the Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. He received his formal education in the Talladega County School System and was a graduate of Lincoln High School. Leo further his education by attending the University of Houston in Houston, Texas where he was a star football player with the Houston Cougars and later played Canadian Pro-Football. Once completing his education and football profession, Leo began a career in the construction industry as a cement finisher where he remained gainfully employed until his health began to decline. Leo was loving and kind-hearted father, brother, uncle, and friend who was an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide.

On the evening of Wednesday, December 10, 2025, Leo Truss peacefully transitioned from this walk of life to his eternal home joining his parents, Lee Curtis and Glady Truss, his sisters, Mary Green, Joyce Elston, Betty Jean Warren, and Curley Brewer, brothers, Robert McCargo and Willie Lee Williams, brothers-in-law, Willie Ervin Hall and George Cameron. Leo will always be loved and missed immensely by his community, family, friends and all the hearts he has touched throughout his 65-year earthly journey.

Cherishing his memories are his loving daughter, Leah Truss; three sisters, Marilyn Cameron, Brenda Hall, and Vanessa (Kenneth) Reed; devoted companion, Mahalia Jemison, special nephew and caregiver, James Earl Caldwell; bonus sister, Annie Mae Cochran; brothers-in-law, Henry Elston and Larry Green; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
