Leon Hindman

Lewis Leon Hindman 86, died on Saturday August 24, 2024 at the Ranch House in Garden City, KS. He was born December 27, 1937 in Shidler Oklahoma, the son of Lewis and Euna Mae Hindman. Leon attended schools in Webb City, Oklahoma and graduated from Shidler High School Class of 1957. While attending high school, Leon was in several clubs include 4H and Vocation Carpentry where he was Sergeant of Arms. On August 21st, 1959 he married his wife of 40 years, Sonia Grace Wasson in Clayton, New Mexico. After living in New Mexico and Oklahoma they settled down in Arkansas City, Kansas. He was a hard worker, first employed for Firestone Tire and Rubber Company. In 1967 he took a transfer to Garden City with Firestone, staying until 1976. On March 15th 1976 he started at American Implement of Garden City, retiring from there on July 1, 2011. Nothing could keep him down. He returned to the workforce at Palmers Tanks as a pilot car driver, eventually retiring in March 2024.
Leon loved life, everything John Deere, big trucks shows, concerts, and traveling with his companion of 18 years, Patsy Brimm.
He is survived by his Companion-Patsy Brimm; his Son-Tim (Kim) Hindman of Austin, Texas; Daughter-Vicki (Danny) Wilkinson of Atwood Kansas; Granddaughter-Alliee Hindman of Austin, Texas; Sister- Darlene Morton of Enid Oklahoma; Sister-in-law- Isbella Hindman of Seattle, Washington & numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Wife-Sonia Hindman; his Sisters & Brothers-in-laws- Edith (Leonard) Martin, Lois (Wesley) Hobbs, Pauline (Bob) Comfort. Charlene (Ralph) Yucknat, Hazel (Neil) Schuermann; 2 Brothers & Sister-in-law; Cecil (Fern) Hindman, Alvin Hindman; Brother-in law-Clarence Morton & numerous Nieces and Nephews. A Funeral Service will be held 11:00 am Thursday September 12, 2024 at Garnand Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Sheridan officiating. The service will be live on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery.
