Leon W. Polhamus on September 26, 2024 of West Deptford. Age 79. Beloved husband of the late Jean A. Polhamus (nee Durbin). Loving father of David Polhamus (Stephanie) of Lake City, Florida, and the late Leon Polhamus IV and Michael Polhamus. Stepfather to Rosemarie Bosch (Joseph) of Riverside, and Pat Certo (wife Karen) of West Deptford. Cherished brother of Elaine Polhamus, (Edward Engelbrecht) and the late Eleanor J. Anderson. Devoted grandfather of Ana Dryden, Michaela Brosovich, William Ward, Katelyn Bosch, Jason Certo, Ashley Certo and Kristyn Certo. Great-grandfather of Conner Robinson, Braddock Dryden, Artemis Brosovich, Oberon Brosovich, Arianna, and Bria.
Leon was born in Bridgeton, NJ and lived in Millville. He served in the Navy from 1963-1969 during the Vietnam war. He worked on the hydraulic systems of the aircraft carrier. Leon and Jean were married for 29 years. They both enjoyed their rescued cats, Dolly and Larry. Their cats were treated with caring hearts and loved.
Leon retired from Johnson Matthey in 2011. He continued to meet with his friends from work for an early breakfast after retirement. Leon was always proud of his children and their accomplishments. He adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Leon will be greatly missed but the love and happiness he shared with everyone will always be will us.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 11am at Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, 240 N. Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown, NJ 08094.
