Leonard J. "Shorty" Dabler Jr., of Antigo, died on October 16, 2025 at home with his daughter and granddaughter by his side. He was 75 years old. He was born on March 30, 1950 in Chicago, a son of the late Leonard and Vera (Warner) Dabler.
He was a graduate of Antigo High School. Leonard moved to Illinois in 1968 and worked as a fire fighter and paramedic for the city of Park Ridge. In 2009, Leonard moved back to Antigo to enjoy his retirement.
Leonard was an avid fisherman, hunter, and lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. He was a proud stockholder of the Green Bay Packers.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn (Justin Bennetts) Dabler of Antigo; a son, Patrick Dabler of Des Plaines, IL; four sisters, Toni "Sis" Marshman of Kenosha, Dianna "Deed" Brown of Racine, Karen Schriner of Antigo, and Debra Dabler of Fond Du Lac; two brothers, Donald Warner of River Forest, IL and Anton "Butch" Matuszczak of Crivitz; three grandchildren, Aubrey Kegler, Easton Kegler and Parker Bennetts; Leonard is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Person; and two brothers, Bill Warner and Eugene Dabler. To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Leonard, please visit our floral store.
