Leonard Evar Forsell, of Two Harbors, died Monday September 9, 2024 on his 80th birthday.
Leonard was born September 9, 1944 to Leonard and Lois (Tuenge) Forsell in Minneapolis, MN. He grew up in Two Harbors and graduated from Two Harbors High School in 1963. After serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1963 until 1968 he returned to Two Harbors and attended the Duluth Institute of Technology (LSC) to study architectural design and drafting. He was employed at Zalk Josephs for several years and continued his career at North Shore Steel in Two Harbors from 1980 until retiring in 2010.
Leonard enjoyed reading, woodworking, gardening and building model train dioramas. He loved spending time with his family and siblings and enjoyed frequent holiday and celebration gatherings. He and his brothers worked on many home remodeling projects together and, along with his brother David, continued to help with family projects in his retirement. He also spent time researching and documenting family genealogy and history, and fondly remembered summers spent in Minneapolis with his grandparents and extended family.
Leonard was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother-in-law, Ron Johnson.
He is survived by his wife, Sue; son Justin (Lisa) Forsell; granddaughter, Clara Forsell; sisters and brothers, Loretta (Jerry) Carlson, David (Annette) Forsell, Nancy Johnson, Terry (Lori) Forsell and Tad (Stephanie) Forsell; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service with military honors will be held at 1:00pm Sat. Sept. 21st at Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors, followed by a gathering of friends and family from 2:00 to 4:00 for coffee fellowship at DEPT.two, 621 First Ave, Two Harbors, MN
