Leonard S. (Lipovsky) Lane, 89 years, passed away peacefully on August 19th, 2025.
Leonard was a lifelong resident of Ohio, residing fifty years in Munroe Falls. A 1953 graduate of Kenmore High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Carol, then served four years in the USMC with time in Okinawa, Japan. Upon return he graduated from OSU and held a long career with the Cigna Corp. Leonard played the trumpet since childhood and remained actively playing in community bands, which included many years with The Akron Pops Orchestra. He played golf & pool, flew planes, rode his treasured Schwinn, roller skated and volunteered with the Soap Box Derby. Leonard returned to KSU taking courses in Geology after retirement. As an avid reader, the dictionary was a favorite book. He was a long standing member of both the Stow VFW Post #4738 and The Zeppelin Rifle Club. He was a member of Saint Eugene Parish in Cuyahoga Falls, Oh.
Leonard is proceeded in death by his wife of 50 years, Carol Joanne (Gindlesberger) Lane & Son, Leonard Stephen Lane II, along with his parents, Steve & Verna Lipovsky. He is survived by sisters, Mary (Tom) Cantwell, Irene (Noah) Carver. Children, Mark (Tracie) Lane, Laura (Tom) Lisby. Grandchildren, Michael S. (Caitlin) Rodriguez, Alyssa & Shawn ( Rochelle) Lane. Great Grandchildren, Amelia, Clara Jo, Theodore, Elias & Kaylee . Nieces, nephews, neighbors & friends. Thank you to all the staff at Maplewood Senior Living, Akron General Cleveland Clinic, Crossroads Hospice and Father Pete for their wonderful prayers and care.
Visitation will be 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at St. Eugene Catholic Church (1821 Munroe Falls Ave), where Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 11:00 AM. Following the funeral Leonard will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Akron Pops Orchestra or Riverfront Community Band.
