Leonard John Helmer (Age 71) and Nancy Ann Helmer Hobolich (Age 69) of Cleveland, Wisconsin sadly passed away within a day of each other on Nov. 12th and Nov. 13th, 2024. Leonard spent his childhood in Plymouth, WI and graduated high school there in 1971. Nancy spent her childhood in Sheboygan, WI, where she graduated high school in 1973. They were married in Plymouth at the Salem United Church of Christ on June 29, 1974.
Leonard and Nancy built their own country house near Cleveland, WI, where they raised 3 amazing children: Kurt (Sybil Helmer) from Jerome, ID, Terry (Stef Helmer) from Shoreview, MN, and Nicole (Paul Stroede) from Madison, WI. Nancy was employed at Johnsonville for roughly 25 years. Leonard, being a fun story-teller, loved to share about all the random jobs he held in his life. His most skilled-trade was as a caster at Kohler Co. for 43 years. Together, Nancy and Leonard participated in bowling and dart leagues, softball playing and spectating. As a whole family, the Helmers also enjoyed eating snacks and watching Packer football games on Sundays.
Nancy was known for her love and compassion for animals. Nancy really enjoyed raising rabbits for over 25 years. Nancy was artistic with her collages and children's Halloween costumes. She also created detailed scrapbooks for her children and attended their sporting events. Nancy loved her home in the country and being in her backyard watching all that nature offered.
Leonard had the gift for gab, visiting with anyone. He was a very reliable and generous person. He loved wood-work, camping, road trips, playing chess with his grandchildren, family history-cemetery tours, going to their sporting events, having ice cream and chocolate milk socials, and was a genuinely joyful and youthful person.
Leonard and Nancy were grandparents to Ethan (18), Ellie (16), Silas (15), Ellyse (14), Jaycie (13), Edalie (11), and Carson (8). Leonard was also the father of Jaiden (9) from Milwaukee, WI.
They are preceded in death by Joyce and Ken Hobolich (Judy Hobolich), Michelle Hobolich, Carl and Helen Helmer, Infant Girl Helmer, Carleen Pickruhn, and Chris Helmer.
A Visitation will happen on Saturday, November 23rd, 2024 from 1pm to 3pm, followed by a Celebration of Lives starting at 3pm. The location is Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorial funds will be established at the American Heart Association and the Animal Humane Society.
