LEONARD ELLSWORTH SINES, age 82, of Chillicothe, formerly of Washington CH, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at the Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe.

He was born on May 5, 1943 in Circleville to the late Grant and Christina (Sollars) Sines. He was a 1963 graduate of Jackson High School. Leonard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era; he was also a Captain in the Ohio Military Reserves. Leonard and his wife, Bonnie, were self-employed and sold portable buildings for many years in the local area. Leonard was heavily involved in the Masonic Fayette Lodge #107, the Ross County Shrine Club, American Legion Auxiliary Post 25, the Aladdin Shrine Temple in Grove City, and the Scottish Rite of Dublin. He enjoyed volunteer work and was lovingly known as a "social butterfly" by his family; most importantly, he loved spending precious times with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Leonard was preceded in death by his stepbrothers, William C. Abernathy, Thomas L. Abernathy, and Dale E. Abernathy.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Bonnie Lou (Jones) Sines, whom he married on September 30, 1972; his children, Heather Lynn (Earl R.) Palmer, and Clinton Everett Sines and his fiancé, Rachel Russell; grandchildren, Breann Nicole Sines, Evan Thomas Sines, Kayla Renae Sines and her fiancé, Jarod Bellar, Ethan Palmer, Rebecca Palmer, and Noah Whitesel; great-granddaughter, Elaina Rae Michael; and sister, Mary Jean (Carroll) Liston. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, and a host of special friends.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place, and the funeral will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at the Summers Funeral Home with Danny Dodds officiating with burial to follow at the Washington Cemetery. Family and friends may visit at the funeral home on Friday morning from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
