Leonard “Lenny” F. Stano, 73, passed away on December 11th after a battle with Alzheimer’s, he had his amazing wife by his side.
Lenny was born on February 3, 1952, he lived most of his life in Worcester before moving to Holden in 2018. Lenny was the son of the late Leonardo “Lelo” and Lucretia (Capurso) Stano.
Lenny leaves his devoted wife Debra (Roy) Stano of 47 years, over those years they had many wonderful times together especially traveling to the Cape, Niagara Falls and Washington DC.
He also leaves behind his daughter Jennifer Stano and his granddaughter Audriana Alvarez-Stano and the memories of swimming in his pool and taking them for ice cream.
Lenny attended North High and was proud to be the Polar Bear mascot. He was employed by Bay State Abrasives and retired from Saint-Gobain Norton in 2017.
Lenny was a kindhearted man who loved to joke around but would always help anyone he could without hesitation. He loved anything World War II related and even helped restore tanks with his friend David Wright.
Lenny was a lifetime member of Brown Square Civic Club and was a 20-year member of the Columbus Day Parade Committee where he helped direct the parade down Shrewsbury Street. He also helped the Worcester County St. Patrick’s Day Committee with their parade.
One of his proudest moments in working with the parade committees was when he took part in the December 9, 1999 city wide Memorial Service and Procession for the Firefighters of the Worcester 6.
Lenny also leaves behind two brothers, Frank Stano and his wife Diane and Richard Stano; a brother-in-law, Paul Simons, many nieces, nephews and beloved cousins.
The family would like to also thank the staff at Beaumont of Westboro for their amazing dedication and care for Lenny over the last 7 months.
Family and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Lenny’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Sunday, Dec. 21st from 2 to 4 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury.
