Leonard P. Worthing

WORTHING, Leonard – of Clio, age 70, was called to his heavenly home on Monday, May 5, 2025, surrounded by his family. Funeral service will be held 11AM Thursday, May 15, 2025, at Messiah Lutheran Church – 520 Butler St., in Clio. Rev. Erik Cloeter officiating. Honoring Leonard's wishes, cremation will follow. The family will receive visitors at the church on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 1PM until 8PM and on Thursday from 10AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Samaritan's Purse.
Leonard was born on November 22, 1954, in Flint, Michigan, to the late Arden and Rita (Babcock) Worthing. He lived and worked in Clio his entire life and graduated from Clio High School in 1972. On August 2, 1975, Leonard married Denise Levesque. Together, they shared nearly 50 years of marriage, raising two daughters and creating countless cherished memories with friends and family.
Leonard and Denise enjoyed a full and active life together. Their many adventures included camping trips, golfing at the Clio Country Club, and motorcycle journeys across the eastern and southern United States-especially riding through the Smoky Mountains. Leonard also loved spending time at the family cabin in Oscoda on the lake, where he welcomed friends and family to make lasting memories.
Leonard was an avid hunter who shared his passion with many, particularly enjoying time in the woods with his grandchildren and son-in-law. He was proud to serve for 24 years as a firefighter with the Clio Fire Department, where he formed strong bonds with fellow firefighters, many of whom became like family. He took great pride in serving his community.
Leonard was a gifted craftsman who worked with his hands throughout his life. There was little he couldn't build or fix. He and his siblings proudly owned Worthing's Corporation in Clio, where Leonard enjoyed working side by side with his family. In his later years, he found joy in working alongside his nephew Toby, whose friendship and support he deeply valued.
Leonard is forever loved by: Wife, Denise Worthing; Children: Michelle (Michael) Duclos and Sandra (Kory) Hahn; Grandchildren: Christian, Nolan, Ashlyn, Justin, Stefan, Addie, and Grayson; Siblings: Ardena Johnson, Bud (Val) Worthing, Penny (JR) Bloodworth, Valerie (Glen) Bradow, Steve (Pam) Worthing, and Stuart (Sandy) Worthing; Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. Leonard was preceded in death by: Parents, Arden and Rita; Brother-in-law, Dane Johnson; Many aunts, uncles, and extended family members.
